We encourage other companies in the Skincare sector to follow Dr Hauschka’s example and adopt more ethical policies and practices.
In what areas does Dr Hauschka perform well?
Dr Hauschka performs well across all categories of our research, gaining excellent ratings for our People criteria; this part of our research investigates how a brand treats workers in its supply chain, employees working directly for the brand, consumers and investors, and other communities that the brand comes into contact with.
Dr Hauschka’s key achievements also include being set up as a hybrid company. Dr Hauschka is a commercial organisation, but it also runs a charitable framework and is obliged to have a tangible positive impact on the communities it engages with; from suppliers to customers.
A target for further reduction in carbon emissions is included in WALA’s thorough Environmental Statement 2021 (p. 11), along with targets for packaging (p. 33), and a wealth of evidence of success. (This report is available both in English and German.)
To achieve our Ethical Accreditation, Dr Hauschka could consider acquiring a well-recognised vegan certification. Though many of the brands’ products claim to be vegan, there is little evidence of this as of yet. Certification and accreditation goes a long way to alleviating consumer concerns and ensuring that no animal products are used.
