What does Mackie’s do?

Mackie’s began making ice cream in 1986 but the dairy farm it grew from in Aberdeen was in operation from 1912. Its first product was ‘Natural Ice Cream’, which was a creamy dessert with no added flavour, known today as ‘Traditional’ flavour.

In which areas does Mackie’s perform well?

It also scores well across our criteria for Nuclear, Fossil Fuels, Animal Welfare, Political Donations and Armaments. Find out more about our ethical criteria.

What can Mackie’s do to improve its score?

The above benchmark score that Mackie’s is awarded on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Ice Cream Ratings Table is the result of an evaluation of multiple ethical criteria.

As Mackie’s already receives a top score in the Ethical Ice Cream sector, The Good Shopping Guide encourages it to get in touch and apply for Ethical Accreditation. After sending in its application, Mackie’s will be offered the use of The Good Shopping Guide Ethical Mark.

Mackie’s could further improve its score by releasing a statement relating to GMOs, becoming certified as vegetarian and gaining organic certification.
