How ethical and sustainable is Rocket Dog?
Rocket Dog, the shoe, boot and sandal brand, has been rated and researched by The Good Shopping Guide. It has been evaluated for its ethics, sustainability and CSR policies relating to the Environment, Animals and People. It is featured on our Shoes & Trainers: Ethical Comparison Ratings Table, and is unfortunately not yet counted as an above-benchmark brand and is therefore not yet eligible for Ethical Accreditation. We encourage all brands to apply for Ethical Accreditation however, as this process involves an even deeper investigation into the brand’s ethical business practices, as well as receiving tailored advice on how to improve its ethics, sustainability and CSR policies.

About Rocket Dog
Women’s shoes are designed and produced by Rocket Dog, a private American business with headquarters in Hayward, California. It was established in 1997 in Southern California and was given the name of a pet dog owned by one of the two founders that liked to run on the beach. Its first product lines placed a focus on beachwear and casual clothing, but it currently offers a wide variety of women’s shoe styles. Along with the US, Europe and Israel also sell Rocket Dog shoes. Beginning with a foundation of around 120 stores there, it expanded its company there in 2012.
Is Rocket Dog sustainable?
The sustainability page for Rocket Dog only briefly addresses items like packaging, parts, and production processes. For this page, we gave Rocket Dog only a middle ranking due to this brand being a small company, but with a lack of any detail in its Environmental Report.
Does Rocket Dog make shoes with Sustainable Materials?
Parts of the shoes in Rocket Dog’s “recycled” line are fashioned from previously used materials. However, only two products are available in this range, which is insufficient in comparison to the wide range of shoes the brand manufactures, stocks and sell.
Are Rocket Dog shoes Vegan?
Rocket Dog shoes are not Vegan; there are animal byproducts in the shoes’ adhesives. Nubuck is also used in some products.
How could Rocket Dog improve its Ethical Rating?
This shoe brand could improve its Ethical Rating on The Good Shopping Guide‘s Shoes & Trainers: Ethical Comparison Ratings Table by publishing more detail about its Environmental policies and using more Sustainable Materials in its products.
If your shoes and trainers brand values ethics and sustainability, why not check out The Good Shopping Guide‘s Ethical Accreditation? Increase customer and investor confidence and stand out from the greenwash.
