Innocent

How ethical is Innocent?

Innocent is a brand that sells a variety of cold drinks including smoothies, fresh juice and vegan milk. Unfortunately, Innocent does not have a high score on The Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Vegan Milk Ratings Table and as a result, cannot be classed as ethical. Although it has not yet met our minimum benchmark, Innocent could apply for Ethical Accreditation.

The Good Shopping Guide will offer it a detailed assessment and some recommendations on how it could improve to reach our ethical benchmark. The Ethical Vegan Milk Ratings Table shows where Innocent ranks against other brands within the Ethical Vegan Milk sector. It can help you to find out more about the criteria that a brand needs to meet to reach our minimum ethical benchmark.

The Good Shopping Guide encourages all brands to follow in the footsteps of our top-rated brands and apply for Ethical Accreditation.

In which areas do Innocent receive a high score?

Innocent receives a top rating score for its Environmental Report. It has a dedicated page for its sustainability targets called ‘things we do for the planet’. By 2025, Innocent aims to go completely carbon neutral and make 100% recyclable bottles by 2025. Innocent’s parent company The Coca-Cola Company also has a sustainability section on its website which contains targets for its packaging and carbon emissions.

Innocent also receives a top rating under Vegetarian/Vegan as it is certified by The Vegan Society.

What does Innocent receive a bottom score for?

Unfortunately, Innocent receives a bottom score for Animal Welfare. Its parent company The Coca-Cola Company planned to cull foxes at its factory site in Sidcup, U.K. Campaigners and residents reacted furiously to the news, calling the plans “unacceptable cruelty”.

The Coca-Cola Company responded by saying they have put these control measures ‘on hold’ at the Sidcup site, and are now reviewing what other options are available.

What can Innocent do to improve its score?

Innocent’s score in The Good Shopping Guide is the result of a calculation of multiple ethical criteria. We would like to see Innocent improve upon its bottom score in the Animal Welfare category. By doing so it could see its position rise on the Ethical Vegan Milk Ratings Table and become one of our top rated brands in the Ethical Vegan Milk Ratings Table.

Your vegan milk company’s brand might benefit from Ethical Accreditation. To find out which other brands have earned this ethics and sustainability certification, visit our Ratings Tables. To learn more, contact us or complete a form for a rapid first assessment.
